The MCG Centenary Test Match remembered
40 years since the Centenary Test Match was played and that game was celebrated by TMS.
During the lunch and tea intervals of Test Match Special we marked the 40th anniversary of the Centenary Test Match being played at the MCG. On the field a motorcade took players around the ground with the likes of Bob Willis, Greg Chappell, Rod Marsh, Dennis Lillee and Ray Bright all involved.
There have been so many memorable matches played at this famous old ground, but that game is perhaps the most remarkable.
Not just for the cricket played, but for the whole occasion.
One of the images of that match was the Australian opener Rick McCosker batting bravely with a broken jaw in the second innings after he鈥檇 been struck by Bob Willis earlier in the match. We hear an interview he carried out with Jim Maxwell at the ground.
We also hear the memories of Dennis Lillie, Rod Marsh and Greg Chappell.
