The news of the passing of actor Peter Wyngarde at the age of 90, robbed the world of one the icons of pop culture.

Best known as the dandy crime fighter Jason King, whose flamboyant dress sense and louche onscreen persona has become a byword for 70s style, Wyngarde's career stretched for decades. He took on multiple roles on stage and screen, performing opposite the likes of Richard Burton and Vivien Leigh and had starring roles in such classic shows as The Prisoner, The Avengers and most famously Department S, which introduced the world to Jason King.
