A Totally Jazzed Memory Tape
Listener Ben awoke too late to chat to us about his tape but we were still totally jazzed about those top tunes from Louis Armstrong, Dave Brubeck, Herbie Hancock, and more.
Listener Ben awoke too late to chat to us about his tape (channeling the spirit of Jazz, perhaps?) but he picked some stellar tracks from Louis Armstrong, Dave Brubeck, Herbie Hancock, and another featuring a favourite Gene Wilder sample.
He says (via e-mail!): I have two close friends, Tom and Aled. We鈥檝e been friends since growing up together, and in 2017 we all started to hit the magic 30.
In the past six months our lives have changed massively; we decided to get together and open a Jazz Bar! The Metronome Jazz Bar is on Godstall Lane in Chester city centre. This means we are now working together in the evenings and frankly loving life listening to some awesome jazz. Our friendship has grown to greater heights since we opened the bar. We're different people from who we were 10 years ago but in so many ways we're still the same.
Without going into specifics it's not been an easy few years for us but we're all coming out the other side now and the one thing that's kept us together is our (varied) love for music. Here are some of those songs:
Us3 - Cantaloop (Flip Fantasia)
Mr Scruff - Get a Move On
Rodriguez - Crucify Your Mind
Louis Armstrong - Mack The Knife
Herbie Hancock - Watermelon Man
Lemon Jelly - Nice Weather For Ducks
Crazy P - There's A Better Place
Dave Brubeck - Take Five
York - On The Beach
Underworld - Two Months Off
Public Service Broadcasting - Gargarin
Bob Marley - Waiting in Vain
Royksopp - 49 Percent
Iggy Pop - Gardenia
Kidnap Kid - Vehl
Dans La Radio - Jacques
Jungle - Busy Earnin
Mylo - Need You Tonight
