Will America abandon the Kurds?
Turkey is attacking a Kurdish armed group, the YPG, which is America's main ally in Syria and the boots on the ground that helped defeat the Islamic State Group. So what will the US do? The YPG is the armed wing of a Kurdish political party the PYD, which Ankara claims is linked to the PKK that has waged an armed struggle against the Turkish state. Will the US now bow to the wishes of a NATO member and abandon its Kurdish allies or will it ignore Turkey's smoke signals? The 大象传媒's Ritula Shah has been speaking to James Jeffrey, former US ambassador to Turkey.
