Wantage vs. Munro: The Fight for Women's Suffrage
We recreate a 1918 Town Hall debate with two local women who became key to the fight for women's suffrage.
Lady Wantage was a famed art collector, and president of the North Berks branch of the Anti-Suffrage League, while Anna Munro was a member of the Women's Social and Political Union who campaigned across the royal county for women to be enfranchised.
Lady Wantage, played by Georgina Strawson:
"I believe that women and men are, different, similar beings with talents that are complimentary, not identical. We have different ambitions, and different talents.
"We should not combine the two."
Anna Munro, played by Dani Davies:
"Laws for protecting our children are important, and they have not been recognised by the men of this country.
"We can get these laws passed more quickly if we have more people fighting for them."
