Bevan Congdon 'always had your back'

He was a great team man and he left a real legacy in putting New Zealand cricket on the map.

Those are just some of the tributes being paid to former Black Caps Test captain Bevan Congdon, who died on Saturday 10th February - one day short of his 80th birthday, after a long illness.

Congdon led New Zealand to their first win over Australia in Christchurch in 1974.

His former teammate John Parker, who played 22 Tests alongside Congdon - including that historic win over the Aussies, has paid tribute to Bevan.
