Palmer: F1's halo 'is a step too far'
Jolyon Palmer says the integration of the halo head protection system 鈥渋s a step too far鈥 for Formula 1.
Speaking with Jennie Gow and commentator Jack Nicholls, the former Renault driver went on to say: 鈥淚t鈥檚 against the tradition of open-cockpit cars, and I feel it鈥檚 extremely unnecessary.
鈥淲e had a lot of presentations about it in the last few years, and I think as far as I know in Formula 1, it actually wouldn鈥檛 have saved anyone. I mean, the last death 鈥 Jules Bianchi, very tragic - and it was proven that halo actually would have made no difference. That鈥檚 from the designers of halo,鈥 the Briton added.
Palmer will join the 5 live Formula 1 team for the 2018 season.
