Cutting down on single-use plastics
A group of Conservative MPs has given up single-use plastics for Lent. Vicky Ford, who organised the move, said: "The Government is committed to working with manufacturers and supermarkets to reduce single-use plastic but we all need to do a bit ourselves as well." Labour MP Holly Lynch has accused the Government of "dragging out" policy on plastics. She told The Westminster Hour's Faizal Farook: "There's certainly things we could be doing in the here and now, so one of the commitments that the Labour Party made was to introduce a plastic bottle deposit return scheme. If we were in Government we'd be rolling that out tomorrow."
