Hope for a vaccine against lung cancer
Despite frosty relations between Cuba and the United States, the first ever trial of a Cuban-made anti-cancer treatment is underway on US soil. CIMAvax is a therapeutic cancer vaccine against lung cancer. It was developed by the Center for Molecular Immunology in Havana and shows promise as an effective treatment for this hard-to-treat form of cancer. The ground-breaking trial in the US is being run by the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. Its president Candace Johnson explains how CIMAvax works.
