Amelia Dyer: Reading's notorious baby killer

大象传媒 Radio Berkshire's Sarah Walker joined Emmer Green's Victorian crime writer Angela Buckley to tour various crime scenes across Reading, including those visited by infamous baby killer Amelia Dyer.

Angela Buckley, Crime Writer & Historian:

"When they discovered babies wrapped in paper near Caversham lock they ran to this particular police station, and the entire investigation took place here.

"She was a Victorian baby farmer, and they used to adopt and foster children for a fee - there was no legislation at that time, and children were completely unprotected.

"She had been working in Bristol and relocated to Caversham in 1985.

"When bodies started appearing in the Thames the police astonishingly were able to piece together a case where they could actually convict her."
