'We need a long-term plan for violent crime'
The manager of a youth support trust which works with A&E departments in London has said that authorities need to focus more on issues such as poverty and lack of opportunities when tackling violent crime. Tom Isaac told The Westminster Hour: "The default thing for everyone to focus on can be stop and search and that's a really important conversation to have but the thing is with stop and search, we've got to realise it's a response to knife violence, it's not the root cause of knife violence. We've got to think long-term, we've got to have preventative measures, we can't just do knee-jerk crisis point intervention."
