'Wenger looked more like a geography teacher' - Martin Keown
Arsene Wenger looked more like a geography teacher than a football manager when he arrived at Arsenal, says ex-Gunners defender Martin Keown.
Speaking on the day Wenger announced that he'd be stepping down from his role after over 21 years at the helm, Keown recalls that he feared being replaced when the Frenchman joined the club in 1996.
Keown says Wenger reassured him of his place immediately and also gave him the phone number of the then vice-chairman David Dein as he believed the club should be paying him more.
The ex-England international also jokes that he gets worried before having a glass of wine in case Wenger is watching him…
