Increase your heart rate with the thunderous sound of Japanese Taiko drumming
Joji Hirota and the London Taiko Drummers perform Akita on Radio 3's Music Planet. In Japanese, Taiko means "big fat drum" - so beware, it will be loud!
Hirota is a composer, percussionist and multi instrumentalist hailing from Northern Japan. Trained as a classical musician, he's a master of the spectacular and thunderous Taiko drums as well as the delicate Japanese flute, the shakuhachi.
This is an exclusive online track from Radio 3's Music Planet. Hear more from Joji Hirota in a special Night Blossoms edition on 27 April 2018.
