Sergey Konstaninovich Yarylchenko and his wife fled the war in Eastern Ukraine. They fled to a new Jewish settlement in Anatevka, in Ukraine, where they became the first settlers. Children and adults in the village lovingly call him 'Konstantinych'- just using this patronymic and come to him for help with all the practicalities of building a new community. He mends furniture, teaches crafts to the boys and makes furniture out of bits and bobs.

Sergey is a welder from Lugansk in his 50s. Lugansk, formerly known as Voroshilovgrad is a city near the eastern border of Ukraine and western Russia. Luhansk has been held by the rebel group of Luhansk People's Republic since 2014. Sergey talks poignantly about being scared and fleeing the conflict.
