Dog's dinner: why a third of us cook our own dog food
Whether it be from a can, a bag, or a box - the dog food industry is worth more than a billion pounds a year in the UK. But figures from market researchers Mintel suggest that nearly a third of dog owners are rejecting shop-bought dog food, and home-cooking from scratch. While you know exactly what your dog is eating whilst cooking your own, vets are urging caution – how do you know if your dog is getting the nutrition it needs? Jay Unger decided to make a dog's dinner, and Shari Vahl talks to an expert who cooks her own dog's food.
