Survivor (For The Grenfell Survivors) by Robinson, Sanders, and Vince
A brand new piece of poetry and music, dedicated to the survivors of the Grenfell Tower disaster. Recorded in West London at Maida Vale Studios on June 14th 2018, exactly a year after the fire.
Poet Roger Robinson, drummer Mark Sanders, and multi-instrumentalist Ben Vince were assembled and introduced to each other by Late Junction on Radio 3, and invited to spend a day creating work together in the studio. The first piece they did originated with a few lines Robinson had written about Grenfell Tower, and the three of them sat down to improvise around them, without much conversation or planning.
