FIFA 鈥榦ut of time鈥 to strip World Cup from Qatar: Ex-FA Chief
The FA鈥檚 Former Chief Executive Mark Palios tells 5 Live Sportsweek he doesn鈥檛 expect Qatar to be stripped of the 2022 World Cup. He believes there isn鈥檛 enough time to 鈥榩ractically鈥 make contingency plans, and that FIFA are 鈥榦ut of time鈥. But he tells Garry Richardson that allegations into the country鈥檚 conduct during their bid to host the tournament should be properly investigated. Leaked documents suggest Qatar carried out 鈥榖lack ops鈥, using a PR firm and ex-CIA agents to discredit their rivals, in breach of FIFA regulations. Palios says that, if true, sanctions should be imposed on the Middle Eastern country, and could include 鈥榖anning Qatar from football post 2022鈥.
