“There’s a boat load of [Prince] music in the vaults.â€
The New Power Generation's Morris Hayes returns to London - a "Prince stronghold" - to celebrate the musician he worked with for twenty years.
Morris remembers the perfectionism behind 72-hour-long rehearsals and roller-coaster shows, including a memorable Super Bowl where Prince asked for "more rain". It was the "stuff that movies are made of" but just who would be able to capture the nuance of Prince on screen?
He also reveals that there's an incredible amount of Prince material in the vaults, so much in fact, that the tapes are spilling over onto the floor and into the memorabilia "pre-vault." Solo recordings, as well as those with Lenny Kravitz, Gwen Stefani, Questlove, D'Angelo and Patti LaBelle. Morris believes that Prince's family want people to hear it. And there's enough music to put out over the next thirty years.
