The problem when translators are predominantly male
For hundreds of years, the study of Ancient Greece and Rome was largely the domain of elite white men. Emily Wilson is the first woman to translate Homer's The Odyssey into English and she says that this domination makes a big difference to how we understand the ancient Greek world.
