Reporters Notebook: Anna Holligan
Having ceded them in the post-colonial break-up of the 1960s, Mauritius wants the Chagos islands back. They claim that the British government of the time had used political pressure to force the Mauritian administration to hand them over. Their claim has reached the International Court of Justice in The Hague. In this week鈥檚 Reporter鈥檚 Notebook, Anna Holligan meets the former islanders who have travelled thousands of miles to witness the proceedings.
