The doctor caring for patients in a hostile environment
Dr Evan Atar Adaha runs the only surgical hospital in South Sudan's northeastern Upper Nile State. He turned an abandoned health centre, destroyed by the ongoing violence, into a hospital which provides a lifeline for hundreds of thousands of people. In recognition of his work, the United Nations has announced that he is the winner of 2018 Nansen Refugee Award. He spoke to Newsday's Lawrence Pollard.
