Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello on his new album
Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello has a new album - The Atlas Underground
The former Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello has a new album - The Atlas Underground. To call it a solo album isn't quite right - it includes collaborations with Steve Aoki, Marcus Mumford, Vic Mensa, Big Boi, Killer Mike from Run the Jewels, K Flay and Knife Party. The concept is a blend of Tom's trademark guitar riffage, his fierce political activism and the power and drops of EDM.
As many figures from the US electro underground scene grew up on Rage Against the Machine - so there's this cross over there.
Tom is no stranger to collaborations as well as Rage he collaborated with late Soundgarden vocalist Chris Cornell and producer Rick Rubin with his Audioslave band, joined Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band for a while, and he's in Prophets of Rage a supergroup consists of Tom, Rage Against the Machine's bassist Tim Commerford and drummer Brad Wilk, with Public Enemy's Chuck D and DJ Lord and Cypress Hill's B-Real.
Matt Everitt from 6 Music Breakfast sat down with Tom to talk about this latest record.
