Why our brains want to believe in superstition

Despite living in era of scientific rationalism – superstition, magic and belief in concepts like luck appear deeply entrenched in our cultures and psyche. Jane Risen, Professor of Behavioural Science from the University of Chicago, explores how some superstitious beliefs are a consequence of our brains desire to search out connections and patterns in seemingly random events.
