Final steps to restore Castle Cove beach access
The campaign to restore access to the beach began over four years ago. Friends of Castle Cove Beach Steve Elsworth says, "the local community has raised 拢10,000 and Weymouth & Portland Borough Council has approved a grant of 拢20,000". A loan for 拢4,000 has been negotiated to address a small shortfall, so fund-raising will continue until Easter next year. Discussions have also taken place with Natural England and Dorset County Council to close the path and part of the beach during construction of the steps on the slope to the sand.
