‘I can’t let the environment keep dictating who I am’
For years, many prisoners in the US have been segregated by race and ethnicity. That's starting to change at San Quentin prison in California. Jesse Vasquez is a prisoner at San Quentin and he's been navigating racial and ethnic divisions in prison for years. Opening up to other racial groups at San Quentin has been difficult for him to adjust to.
