Uncovering slavery in the seafood industry
Margie Mason is an investigative reporter for The Associated Press based in Jakarta, Indonesia. In 2016 she worked with a small team on a Pulitzer Prize winning story about the fishing industry in Southeast Asia. They traced a shipment of slave-caught fish from Indonesia to Thailand, and then to US supermarket shelves - naming and shaming the companies involved. Two thousand slaves were freed. She tells Emily Thomas why she felt compelled to carry out the investigation.
