Femi Temowo is a MOBO Award-nominated artist who was born in Akure, Nigeria and raised listening to West African pioneers such as Fela Kuti, Sunny Ade and Ebenezer Obey. Later he discovered the legendary Charlie Parker and classic jazz albums such as Miles Davis’ Kind Of Blue. It was when he became inspired by the great jazz guitarist Wes Montgomery that he decided to pursue his passion for the guitar, based around a fusion of these musical influences.
Lyrics:
When the war is fought and won
What’s left in our possession
It must not die on our watch
That thing we paid for with tears
Peace is the reward of our patience
Some may get lost
En route to the greater good
Some others are found
Where hidden agendas once stood
So many of you fell
So we can stand on something new
Now some, they build
And others tear apart
Yet the memory of all
Is equal in every heart
Who will?
Explore this age we’re in
Where grass can grow and we get old
Glimpses of peace are enough to cure
Sickness and disease
We must hold on to what we know
You see, patience isn’t weakness
Much to our surprise
We can be boldly peaceful, knowing this is how
We win every fight
But who will?
Explore this age we’re in
Where grass can grow and we get old
Glimpses of peace are enough to cure
Sickness and disease
We must!
Explore this time we’re in
Where I can breathe
And you can have your own
Glimpses of peace are enough
to restore everybody’s spirit
We must hold on to what we know
Peace is the reward of our patience
