Does the slight fall in the gender pay gap signal progress?
Equal Pay Day 2018 is on 10th November. It means that women effectively stop earning relative to men from today and are working for free until the end of the year. Jenni Murray speaks to Madeleine Grant, Editorial Manager at the Institute of Economic Affairs and Catherine Meyer, one of the founders of the Women’s Equality Party. Why does the gap, now said to be running at 13.7 per cent – a slight fall from 13.8 per cent last year – continue to exist and what’s to be done about it?
