Jo Durrant’s Beautiful Universe (16/12/18)

Jo brings you a fusion of Arts and Science for your Sunday morning.

This week Jo chats to Dr Janina Ramirez, who is president of the Gloucester History Festival, about her love of history as well as her new series of books for children featuring a Viking mystery and a fearless heroine.

Jo also talks about photography with Dr Julia Peck from the University of Gloucestershire and in particular an arts and science collaboration that resulted in a seminal book inspired by a doctor and his patients in the Forest of Dean in the late 1960s.

We also hear why a camera is one of the unique objects in the collection at the Jet Age Museum in Staverton – and the story of the photographer who took photos with it up in the air!

And in the Festival Flashback this week Jo brings you her interview with Emma Freud and Richard Curtis at the 2018 Cheltenham Literature Festival, including a few behind the scenes secrets from the film Love Actually.
