The Global Long Arm of the Law
Interpol, the international police organisation charged with co-ordinating law enforcement around the world, has been in the headlines this week.
Following the disappearance in his home country of its Chinese president, Meng Hongwei, it was expected to choose the frontrunner, Russia's Alexander Prokopchuk. Instead Interpol elected South Korean Kim Jong-yang, narrowly avoiding international opprobrium.
Bill Whiteford discusses these developments with Interpol expert, Mathieu Deflem, Professor of Sociology at the University of South Carolina, and looks at history of the organisation.
