The mysterious depths of the Humboldt Current
Shiver at the upwelling of cold water in the deeps of the Humboldt Current, Galapagos. Also known as the Peru Current, the cold flow is caused by both the drag of surface winds and the Earth鈥檚 rotation. The upwelling brings plentiful nutrients close to the surface, which makes these Pacific waters one of the world鈥檚 greatest fishing grounds. This stunning recording was captured at night by legendary sound recordist Chris Watson.
