David Duke
Edi Stark talks to David Duke, chief executive and founder of Street Soccer Scotland, the charity which transforms lives through football. He has his own powerful story of football magic.
Fourteen years ago, he was sleeping rough and living in hostels when he saw a Big Issue poster advertising for players in the Homeless World Cup seven a side football tournament in Gothenburg. He was selected to represent his country and three years later, in 2007, he managed the Scottish homeless team who lifted the world trophy.
Now his charity runs all year round, supporting anyone who wants to play. It also trains and selects players who this year will be competing in Mexico City in November. He talks to Edi ahead of that world event which had such an impact on his own life.
