Fascinating rhythms: the elaborate display of the bowerbird
Trill, flap and beat with the Macgregor's bowerbird in Tari, Papua New Guinea. This Amblyornis Macgregoriae calls elaborately as it prepares its bower on the forest floor. Listen out for its shrill calls, wing flaps, arpeggios, bass notes and complex rhythmic trilling. Mike Potts captured the recording for the 大象传媒 in December 1995.
Image is of a male orange flame bowerbird (Sericulus aureus) beginning his own mesmerizing display, spotlit by a shaft of sunlight on the dark Papua New Guinean forest floor.
