'I need to finish the story' - Cookson vows to play cricket again

Billy Cookson was a promising young wicketkeeper for Wiltshire in the English minor counties league when he travelled to Australia for the first time to play club cricket in October.

On his first day working as a delivery driver to fund his trip, Billy was involved in a head-on collision with a bus, which almost killed him.

He suffered punctured lungs, a torn liver, a broken leg and both ankles, and needed the partial amputation of his right elbow.

Billy has been in hospital in Melbourne ever since, facing months of rehabilitation thousands of miles from home.

Alison Mitchell paid him a visit and found a truly remarkable man, whose attitude to adversity can be an inspiration to us all.
