Derry Girls, Junk Kouture, An Leabhar Ar An tSeilf

A review of Derry Girls by one of the original Derry Girls, Junk Kouture Fashion Competition, a story written by three primary schools from across the North

Téann Sara Ní Chuireáin chuig comórtas faisin ‘Junk Kouture’ a bhfuil sé mar sprioc aige daltaí meánscoile a spreagadh le headaí déanta as ‘junk’ a dhearadh. Agus cluinimid scéal úr, ‘An Leabhar ar an tSeilf’, cumtha ag páistí ó thrí bhunscoil éagsúla, caibidil amháin scríofa ag gach scoil.

Conall Ó Máirtín chats to Ciara Nic Lochlainn about the new series of Derry Girls, written by her friend Lisa Magee. We find out what the similarities are between the true Derry Girls and the girls in the hit show. Sara Ní Chuireáin goes to a fashion competition called ‘Junk Kouture’ which aims to inspire secondary school students to create couture designs and make clothes out of junk. Then we hear a beautiful story called ‘The Book On The Shelf’ which was written by students from three different primary schools – one chapter each per school.
