Dhows for tourism
More and more dhows are turning away from their historic roots to serve domestic and international tourists. In Kenya today many dhows take guests sailing, snorkeling and on visits to local wildlife sanctuaries that are only accessible by boat. The adaptability of dhows combined with an encouraging growth of tourist numbers means the existence of these quintessential craft looks assured for many more generations to come.
