Beira survivor: 'My city is destroyed'

Cyclone Idai is causing a "massive disaster", affecting thousands, if not millions of people in southern Africa. That's the warning from the United Nations.

Mozambique is one of the affected countries. Its government estimates more than 1,000 people could have been killed.

The port city of Beira was one of the places to take the brunt of the cyclone, with winds of up to 177 km/h.

Nelson Moda is a local teacher from Beira. He explains how he and his family survived the storm; but also his guilt and regret at not being able to help his neighbours - some of whom were killed.

He says it was like "a bomb" had hit his city.
