Could ancient viruses emerge once again?
As the Earth warms, could 'zombie' viruses trapped in frozen Arctic soil emerge once again? Jean-Michel Claverie, Professor of Medicine at Aix-Marseille University in France, has successfully revived 30,000 year-old giant viruses found in permafrost in Siberia.
