A Second Arab Spring?
The resurgence of popular protest across North Africa has prompted commentators to raise the prospect of a second Arab Spring, similar to the democratic uprisings of 2012. But will the situations in Sudan, Algeria, Libya and Tunisia create a critical mass to effect permanent change?
David Pratt, contributing foreign affairs editor for the Herald; Christopher Stephen, who reports on Libya and Tunisia for The Guardian, and Dame Rosalind Marsden, who has served as both EU Special Representative and British ambassador to Sudan, and is an Associate Fellow at the Chatham House Africa programme, analyse the situation.
