Fifty years of the Open University
Fifty years ago, the Open University received its official royal charter, giving people from all walks of life the chance to study for a degree through distance learning.
Since then, more than two million people have taken courses and, in doing so, shaped their own futures.
While a lot has changed over the years in terms of how the university operates, the transformational impact it has on student's lives remains the same.
