In Sudan the transitional military council - who now run the country - are negotiating with representatives of the protesters who overthrew President Omar al Bashir. It's the third time a military leader has been overthrown by a popular revolution. One man who's followed all this is the award-winning journalist and editor Mahjoub Mohamed Salih, who began working as a reporter in the 1940s! Newsday鈥檚 James Copnall in Khartoum asked him why the periods of civilian rule in the country haven鈥檛 actually solved Sudan鈥檚 many problems.
