A Charmed Life: The story of Omamori

The word omamori means protection. These portable protective charms are silk pouches containing prayers that have been personally blessed by Shinto priests. Omamori offer people spiritual assistance as a way to help bear the stresses of daily life, and help them achieve success or overcome adversity. A long held tradition, people in modern Japan still take comfort in them, but why?
