Do you want folic acid added to your bread & in fact to all flour consumed in the UK?

The government is consulting on plans to add folic acid to flour in the UK to help prevent birth defects such as spina bifida …. Simply, the story is this; pregnant women are advised to take folic acid, but many do not. It is estimated fortifying flour with folic acid could prevent up to 200 birth defects a year, some Charities have campaigned for the move for over 25 years. Adding folic acid to all the flour in UK will reduce birth defects – but do YOU want any additives placed in your food? Is it a bit like ‘social engineering?’ What if they want to add something else for our benefit – what choice do we have?
