The man who became Godzilla
Godzilla was the creation of a Japanese film studio - a prehistoric sea monster that had received a dose of nuclear radiation and become furiously powerful. He stomped his way through a series of massively popular films, terrifying humans and fighting a succession of equally fearsome creatures. His most recent incarnation is in the new Hollywood release, King of Monsters. These days Godzilla is CGI - but he used to be played by a man in a suit. In the 1980s that man was Japanese actor, Kenpachiro Satsuma. His first monster part was as Hedorah, Godzilla's nemesis. It had never been Kenpachiro's plan to make a career as a costumed lizard - he'd been a student at a prestigious drama school, and had other ideas.
