Sudan's military scraps agreements with protesters

Sudan's military rulers have decided to cancel their agreement with protesters and will hold elections within nine months. The protesters had wanted a longer transition to civilian rule. The statement comes hours after the bloodiest day in Khartoum since protests began in December last year. At least 30 people were killed when security forces opened fire on unarmed protesters. Newsday's Lawrence Pollard spoke to Rosalind Marsden, the former British ambassador to Sudan.
