More than half of the millions of refugees who have fled Syria are children. In Lebanon’s Beqaa Valley, a school is using music to help soothe emotional trauma and incite hope in its young students.

Khaled, originally from Homs, is one of the school’s teachers. He believes that the use of music can help young people overcome the social adversity that they face living as displaced citizens. The use of traditional music in the school not only embraces the heritage of the children’s homeland; it brings joy and useful skills that the children can use in their futures.
