A new medical procedure that could delay the menopause

A procedure that promises to pause the menopause has been given the go-ahead by medical regulators in Britain.

It involves freezing ovary tissue from a young woman, and re-implanting it later in her life.

This would allow her body to continue making the hormones that usually stop being produced at the time of the menopause.

Dr Simon Fishel, who pioneered the procedure, explains why this could improve women's lives in later life.
