Honey Money
Recently, the Zambian government earmarked honey as one of the products that could grow this contribution. Currently, the country produces 2,500 tons of honey. 1,000 tons of this is exported to the European and the African markets, leaving a surplus of 1,500 tons, some of which are consumed in local households. The country earned about 3.1 million dollars from natural honey exports in 2018. We visited the country’s bureau of standards to find out how Zambia is meeting export requirements.
