Award-winning writer, poet, performer, playwright, artist and broadcaster Lemn Sissay MBE chats to Dominic King about his memoir 'My Name is Why' which reflects on his childhood in care.
Lemn Sissay was born was British and Ethiopian and he learned his mother had been pleading for his safe return to her since his birth.
He battled for 30 years to get hold of his files from Wigan council social services and discovered how he was coerced from his mother as a baby and effectively imprisoned in the care system.
