Pets and Cyborgs
Should employers be more sympathetic and allow time off to grieve when pets die?
Vinny is joined by Linzi Conway and Kathryn Wilson for some feisty talk radio!
Tonight is a dog your best friend? Our pets can become part of the family and when they die the grief is real. Recently an 18 year old from Glasgow was fired from her job. She was too upset to come in to work after having to unexpectedly put down her 14 year old border collie.
Should employers be more sympathetic – in fact should we get time off to grieve for our pets or is it a step too far – how many chancers with a hangover would ring in to say that their goldfish had died and they couldn’t make it in to the office?
And who wants to live forever and how far would you go to achieve that dream? According to a recent survey around a third of us would be happy to become cyborgs right now – implant technology into our bodies if it made us stronger, fitter, faster or more intelligent. But why are we afraid of our own mortality – why the desperate measures to lengthen our lives and add bionic parts to our bodies?
